Hybrid formations

Italy and Sweden played with four defenders in opponents’ attacks. They switched to three at the back on the ball. Left back moved to high positions. In attacks, Spinazzola and Augustinsson played along the entire sideline. Left center back filled the zone on the left flank, while the player from the right flank maintained deep position, joining two center backs in defense.

Denmark often switched from three to two defenders in attack development as Christensen moved to the holding area. The team often used this option under pressure, outnumbering opponents in the center. Russia’s Barinov performed a similar function, moving up from the right center back position and maintaining possession across halfway line.

I'm grateful because I don't think that there's enough quality education in the field of football analytics in our region. Earlier, I had the chance to attend a course abroad and I can confirm that ”Adria Football Institute” has given me more. An excellent program, IT education, and great lecturers have enabled me to better understand football, and, by extension, to more effectively watch, analyse, and scout individuals, groups, and the entire match. I'd recommend it to everyone who wants to develop as a coach or as an analyst, because you'll gain valuable tools that will surely enrich them and open further perspectives.

The AFI advanced analyst course was a huge experience for me. All the lecturers were extremely knowledgeable, approachable, and every single one of them has, in their own way, transferred a huge amount of knowledge from their extensive experience. Personally, I can say that this course has widened my view of football. I have met many colleagues from the Balkan countries with which we have, including lecturers, always constructively debated the topics of the course in advance, and that's certainly added value. Besides theoretical, we have also gained a lot of practical knowledge through workshops where we have used various software and the lecturers were always giving us extremely constructive feedback.

For me, the Adria Football Institute was a fantastic experience that has exceeded my expectations. With expert lecturers and a bunch of useful and interesting software, 6 months just flew by. The concept of the institute was designed very well and the experience of the lecturers was invaluable to the participants. From building upon existing knowledge, to developing completely new skills and using various useful software, the content is brought to an understandable level for every participant. I especially loved the ability to use the software after the end of the course, as well as the one-on-one mentorship meetings where I got answers to absolutely all of my questions. The quality of the course is unquestionable and I highly recommend AFI to anyone who wants to work as a football analyst!
